Who is Barack Obama?

Posted by rko

Out of ideas, out of time, and just plain out of touch, the McCain-Palin camp has resorted to casting aspersions on Obama’s character by pushing the question, unbelievably, “Who is Barack Obama?” Their latest attack rests on the ridiculous notion that after 20+ months of the longest and most vigorously contested primary and general election in modern history, accompanied by historic levels of voter interest, Americans somehow don’t know who Sen. Obama is. It’s not the first time McCain has insulted the intelligence of Americans, and it won’t be the last. In a characteristically classy response, the Obama campaign has released yet another intimate look behind-the-scenes at Sen. Obama, his family, and his campaign. Watch the video for some of the most candid moments of the campaign and the Obama family at the DNC in Denver - Barack, Michelle, Sasha, Malia, Konrad, Maya, Suhaila, Craig and Marian Robinson, and more!

Weekly Update for AsianWeek

Posted by keith

Voters in this country just saw how the two major party candidates for president include AAPIs in the political process.

At the Republican convention, “the count of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders not from Hawai’i was negligible,” wrote Jeff Chang on his vibe.com blog.

The Democratic convention saw record numbers of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders participate, including Barack Obama’s sister Maya Soetoro-Ng and other AAPI leaders in prime speaking roles, and a significant increase of AAPI delegates over the last convention. Read the rest of this entry »

Phil Fung, a Miami-based visual artist, had his portrait of Barack Obama chosen as a finalist for for MoveOn.org’s Manfest Hope Gallery Contest. As one of the winners, he had his painting on display at the Manifest Hope Gallery during the Democratic National Convention in Denver. Very cool: Guerrilla artists voting with street signs.

DNC 2008- My experience

Posted by Anjani Nadadur

Hey, I’m Anjani Nadadur. I am seventeen years old, and an intern for Congressman Brad Sherman and at the Obama HQ in Los Angeles. Last week, I was lucky enough to travel to Denver, where I was introduced to the wonderful Cate Park last week in Denver. I saw her a few days ago and she suggested I write about my experience at the convention. I have never really done anything like this before, so here goes… Read the rest of this entry »
