In a bit of fashion news, First Lady Michelle Obama is featured on the cover of the March edition of Vogue. According to the BBC, Michelle is the second First Lady to be featured on the cover (which is usually reserved for models) since Hillary Rodham Clinton in 1998. The dress that Michelle is wearing was designed once again by Jason Wu, who also designed the memorable white gown that she wore during the inauguration balls.

I am working on a book called Kids’ Letters to President Obama.
We are looking for letters from children ages 5 - 15, and I thought that this might be a fun activity for children. We’re very excited about Kids’ Letters to President Obama, which will be published by Random House in 2009.
Children can write a letter to Barack Obama that is up to a page long. The letter can be about anything he or she would like to say to the new President. Letters could give the President advice, or talk about problems that the President should address, or ask Obama questions about his childhood or why he wanted to be president. Or the letter could be about your own child life and feelings about the future. In short, whatever kids are interested in is fine for a letter.
President-elect Barack Obama’s statement Friday night in reaction to the shootings in India:___
Michelle and I send our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the American citizens who lost their lives in the outrageous terrorist attacks in Mumbai. Our thoughts and prayers are with them, and with all who have been touched by this terrible tragedy.
These terrorists who targeted innocent civilians will not defeat India’s great democracy, nor shake the will of a global coalition to defeat them. The United States must stand with India and all nations and people who are committed to destroying terrorist networks, and defeating their hate-filled ideology.
There is one president at a time. I will continue to closely monitor the situation on the ground in Mumbai, and am grateful for the cooperation of the Bush administration in keeping me and my staff updated. We fully support the Bush administration’s efforts to protect American citizens and assist the government of India during this tragic time.
