Building A Giving Garden

The University of Washington Tacoma is an urban campus located in downtown Tacoma, and is eager to give back to its community. This project is the construction of four raised bed gardens which will grow organic vegetables to be harvested and donated to Tacoma’s Good Neighbor Café, a facility providing breakfast and dinner to homeless and low-income individuals. The Greater Tacoma Community Foundation has provided grant money to fund the project, including all supplies for the volunteer as well as snacks and beverages.

President-Elect Obama’s Holiday Message in Multiple Languages

Posted by rko

President-Elect Obama’s Christmas/New Year message has been enhanced with our karaoke English captioning, and subtitled in Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, Tagalog, and Spanish. We’re also hoping for some additional languages.

You can see it at these locations:

* On Youtube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXHdvgHM6fI and www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPyi4mI80WU
* On the web at www.captionedmediaforobama.com/prez/Obama_Christmas_iphone.mov
* at 720p resolution at www.captionedmediaforobama.com/prez/Obama_Christmas_720p.mov
* With the subtitles below the video at www.captionedmediaforobama.com/prez/Obama_Christmas_iPhone_large.mov
o This is our preferred format, as there is more than enough room with letterboxing for both the video and captions to show well on a 4×3 television.
