John Cho Against California’s Prop. 8

Posted by Nina

I know this is not specifically Obama-related but it is… Obama has a very good record on LGBT rights, and most if not all in the LGBT activist community support him.

For those who consider ourselves “straight allies,” it was great to see this video by John Cho today.  For everyone living in California, please spread the word and vote NO on Proposition 8. It is a very important issue.

p.s. plus, he is a Cal Bear!

BBC Interview with Robert Gee

Posted by Eugenia

Former Assistant Secretary for Policy and International Affairs and Assistant Secretary for Fossil Energy of the U.S. Department of Energy during the Clinton Administration and Committee of 100 member Robert Gee was interviewed by BBC World TV news channel on Monday October 27, 2008 about Asian American voters in this year’s presidential election. Bob is an old Texas hand who helped us out immensely during the Texas primary. In this interview, he is speaking on his own behalf and not on behalf of the Obama campaign. (Bob, we thank you for your support and for the heads up on this interview!)

Greg Pak Endorses Barack Obama

Posted by Eugenia

Filmmaker and comic book writer Greg Pak on why he endorses Obama:

In February 2008, Koream Magazine asked me for a statement about whom I supported for President. Here’s what I submitted:

Call me old fashioned, but I want a president who believes in the rule of law and Constitution of the United States. That means defending the Bill of Rights, restoring habeas corpus, rejecting the use of presidential signing statements as an unconstitutional line item veto, and repudiating torture, warrantless wiretaps, and wars of aggression. I give bonus points for rejecting anti-immigrant rhetoric and for confronting the challenges of poverty, global warming, the health care crisis, and the coming recession.

For all of the above reasons, I’m voting for Senator Barack Obama on November 4. But since I wrote those words, Senator Obama has further sealed the deal…

New Field Poll of California Shows Obama with 23-Point Lead among Asian Americans

Posted by Tim Yu

Barack Obama has opened up a huge 23-point lead over John McCain among Asian Americans in California, according to the latest Field Poll of the state. That margin is helping contribute to an overall 22-point lead for Obama among California voters, which if it holds would be the biggest presidential landslide in modern California history, outpacing even the margins racked up by Ronald Reagan. (SF Chronicle story here, PDF with full poll results here.)
